Hi,
I'm looking to import a C303 (from EU) into the UK.
I know there are some around so its obviously possible.. but whats required. Anyone done this themselves?
DVLA website says for cars >10 years old to contact them (which i have) but does anyone know the real info? I would hope that this model has type approval and will not need an SVA....

Hi,
the person on here you need to talk to is Richard Dover as he has imported loads of them. I am sure he will be along soon enough.
Welcome to Difflock by the way
Colin

He's had a recent family bereavement so he's probably catching up on a lot of stuff.
I got my C306 from a guy in Kent who had recently imported it and there didn't seem any dramas.
If you end up getting a 6 wheeler instead of a 4 wheeler make sure it's MOT'd as a class 4 and not a class 7 as class 7 stops at 3500kg and not the 4500kg's or whatever for the 6 wheelers. The unladen weight wouldn't allow you to carry your shopping home when VOSA's on the rampage!
The infra red lights seem to have to get cut off them all for some reason. Not sure why when some top end cars have them nowadays.

Hi there, I've now caught up with emails and responded to Hoss
Importing is dead easy and involves 2 declarations the first being a VAT declaration where you say that VAT has been paid at some point on this vehicle within the EU and the second being the first registration DVLA form where you need to declare the MAM/MGW as 3500kg as Jamie suggests.
I've done about 15 of these vehicles and as long as the original Country's registration documents are there then there should be no problem.
What makes this one very interesting is that it has a 2.4TD engine where the internals of the gearbox have been changed to cope with the different rev range.
I look forward to hearing more!

Hi Richard,
Sorry, i didnt see your reply here sooner.
Yes the 2.4TD is working out ok, possibly on reflection though the gearing is more for rockcrawling than cruising. I'm hoping that FlyingSpanners will make some more of their high-ration crown-wheels & pinions.
The most urgent tasks that i have:
- Disc brakes (researching... Offroad Tarvike FI have a 800 Eur/axle solution, but requires customs Toyota wheels)
- Fit servo assited/hyd clutch (have Wilwood parts)
- Improve cooling (recore or new rad)
So on that last point, i emailed Allisport but never got a reply. I guess yours were deeper too? so a re-core may not give the best solution.
Paul

The radiators I had made were ally version of the 3" thick C303 12V 'Commercial' radiators. They made a cowl for a kenlowe fan as well. Worked brilliantly.
