kov was a bone of contention for a start. i didint fancy the risk of the lcq, failing to qualify would have been too expensive for me, then they turned round and let everyone go all in. so i could have entered and raced.
never mind reports ive heard say it was just the uk trying to do koh with smaller rocks and more regs. not really my thing at the moment give me some mud trees & technical driving and a good organiser who puts competitors before their own wallet.
yeah danny would be good to meet up with you guys from ooop nurth maybe you can suggest a good event in the north for 2013 ???

Don't wanna clog up your build thread Jerry, but just so you know Neil got paid nothing from KoV, or any of the AWDC events he's run, other than maybe fuel expenses. Not sure whether the above comment was aimed at him but it's simply not true. Plus my parents and the other's who spent 5 weekends traveling to Wales to set up and didn't get a penny other than fuel... Everyone did it just to help put on the best event possible, and to help push the boundaries of offroad motorsport in the UK.

And you're right, it was the AWDC trying to bring Ultra 4 style racing to the UK, as far as we're concerned, as well as the people at Ultra 4, it worked. If you can recommend a site with bigger rocks like the US and enough mileage please let us know. Carry on putting negative comments up about an event you didn't attend though! Rolling Eyes Wink

Anyway, truck looks GREAT. I always loved it when it was in Rob's hands, but you've really made it your own. Looking forward to seeing what you can do with two winches and all the gizmos now.

2013 will be slightly different, mr rockwatt is sorting out a soopa doopa sprocket box for me, so the truck will be a little quicker than 35mph maybe i will give it a go next year the truck should be ready for it, and as the regs turned out to be " like i said" different to how they are written im happy to screw some flappy rubber mats to the rear tray no problem.
what about you???

Cool will be cool to see something Zuk at the event!

What about me?? I expect I'll get roped in for the updating and photos etc again. I don't compete, get more out of the photography/marshaling side of things. Plus it's a bit difficult what with living in a different country these days...

hi simon, i didnt mean neil i meant the awdc, it just comes across a bit bad when people who tried to enter were told all the spaces had gone but you can be a sponsor for £1000 and get free entry, to find alot of people have not turned up and the said sponsor could have had that spot and saved £750. if your running a blue book event correct me if im wrong but a 40 car entry event reaches its quota you are supposed to start a reserve list when people drop out the place should be filled from the reserve list and a refund issued. starting another event to run along side which turned out to be a sham is not really in keeping with the blue book.
as for your parents (great people ive met them) hats off to do all that for nothing,im guessing that the awdc must have taken net in excess of £15000 for the kov and the books look very healthy indeed as we both know. but thats their own business.
anyhows everyone is entitled to express their views, and maybe the awdc events next year will be as great as they always are.

i may wish to try my luck at qualifing for next years kov im not expecting an invitation, i am a member of the awdc and im happy to express my opinions unlike so many others who discuss behind closed doors.

if the club does not want me as a member thats up to them.

p.s glad you approve of the truck i know all the staines family are zooki lovers even your sister drives jimny Very Happy

now enough about kov & awdc. ive said my bit and the 2013 event i will say nothing negative, i promise. Rolling Eyes

No worries Jerry! Everyone gets an opinion. Yeah we love zuks. Looking at 3 jimnys out the back at the moment! Though dad is planning on selling the comp one soon as I'm not going to be living here again any time soon. (want a Jimny?!)

Re the sticky treps, do you think it's worth running them if you know the event is going to be super muddy or wet?? Just thinking they're designed to heat up on dry rocks and that.

the chain tensioners are hydraulic and the motor had done 83,000 miles
before it went in, the engine management light comes on now & then
when flat out, ive put it down to the chain tension putting the cam timing
out very slightly, it used to be a little noisey but now its back together
and sounds saweet, fingers crossed i will get a few more ponies back too.
yes the treps are cool in the mud too which is good news.
so come on danny how the patrol going??

The Mondeo 2.5 and 3.0 V6, Duratec 25 and Duratec 30, are both with cam chains. I believe these are the engines you refer to. Well, at least the 2.5 one Smile

yeah, ive looked at a probe one before, i swear it was belt driven, but i
could be wrong, but so far its been great ive had it in for over a
year now it fits in the engine bay easily no need to mod the bulkhead
the steering column fits down the side to the steering box only just, its on
a 2 litre v6 gearbox same as 1.6 but bell housing slightly different, std
ecu & loom just cut out what is not needed.

i looked at a few different options, i liked the look of the shogun 3500 v6
or 3000 v6 but they are so much bigger & heavier. the ls400 / soarer
lexus v8 motor too but again too big & heavy for me.
this keeps it light and @100bhp per ton its enough for me, i compete
against mainly landrovers and not many of them can claim 100bhp
per ton.

a couple of guys out there are going for the lexus v8 transplant in a zooki
im looking forward to see how well they perform, they should certainly
sound cool. Wink

Yup, it's a great engine. And yes, have also noticed a couple of guys beginning to fit toyota/lexus 4.0 v8 into Jimnys. At least they won't go down on power Smile

Do you know if the bell-housing bolt pattern is the same for all 2.5 v6.. No matter if it's in a Mondeo, Vitara ... ??

'Cause then it would be pretty easy buying a cheap wrecked mid-90s v6 mondeo and mating it with a suzuki transmission Smile

Well, would be nice to put a little 2.0 or 2.5 V6 into my Jimny. But not sure It would be road legal Smile

cant see why not hot rods seem to be road legal ?
2.0 v6 would be an easier option the gearbox is much smaller and will fit
the tunnel better. there was a blue jimny with a gv 2.5 v6 at last years decider trophy on std zook axles ???? so it has been done .
