Hello Chaps
Been caught out by the cold this morning.
Went laning on Sat on 100% wvo, ran lovely (heated filter and 12v heater before the injector pump), worked out it cost me £2.50p . Topped it up with derv on the way home to leave it at around 60% oil thinking i'd be fine to start it... It was very cold this morning, after I flattened the battery I got the blow torch and warmed the injector lines and tried again on the 2nd battery. Touch and go but it started, once it was going it was fine.
Reason I havent already fitted a twin tank is my drive to work is only 15 mins but I dont think I can do without now.
Anyone talk me through a setup? advice on what or where to buy? do I need to mess with the return pipes? I was thinking a seperate filter so I don't have to flush through the filter each time.
Thanks,
Mike.

i threw a fivers diesel on 1/2 tank of wvo and started perfect.
what type of wvo are you using?
sounds like you have a blend there, as all my oil in the warehouse that was blended waxed overnight.
thats about 16,000 litres.

um, there's a mix from 3 sources. 1 supply is mucky and heavy with fats, the majority is quite clean and i think its rape oil all filtered to 1 mic. twin tanking looks expensive but if its needed to get through my oil this winter it's a cost i'll have to bear.

yes, but what type of oil?
if you see any of the following tubs about
then stop using it until next year as it contains palm oil and will wax up at about +3.
i have accumulated 10L of waste fats all summer, mostly crunchy bits ect.
since sunday morning i have collected 8L of fats from 3 50 micron filters. the few degrees makes a difference.
i have a new rack that i can store 300L of fats in until next summer when i`ll recover about 250L of that back again.
oh, did i tell you about my new job Mike?
edit***
sorry, just noticed you said raspeseed. thats weird, mine is all still liquid.

main suppliers are long life vegetable oil and rape oil. 1 i'm unsure but i'm getting about 10% fats out of it. I'm not aware that any of them contain palm oil. Thinking of a simple twin tank system but i could really do with more storage/settling space.
New job? What you doin?

Wow, that'd be handy for you.
If it does contain palm, I can still run it on a twin tank can't I?
Can you take the animal fats I have left over? the worst stuff I settle out a fair amount of gunk before filtering.

yeah, course i can, i was over that side today as well
you can use palm in anything as long as its liquid.
and that depends on the temp.
this morning only about 5000L was hard as opposed to yesterday.
a few degrees makes the difference.

What engine?
I was almost considering an Elsbett Single tank kit for the Fourtrak - makes a lot of sense...
I was told to have some turned off the seat on the glowplugs to make them stick in further - was supposed to help greatly, not plucked up the courage to do that yet.
I also had a large amount of cranking Monday morning, even with a tenners worth of DERV on top of the used rapeseed.

Isuzu 2.8 turbo nat.
I thought you had twin tank nat? what you cranking for?
Thinking of chucking the old boat tank I have in the back of the pickup and just putting a valve on the supply.
