Having killed the alternator on my 200tdi 90, what is the best alternator to fit for charging up two batteries and ancillaries?

standard is about a 65 or 70 amp unit, but you can get 80s, 90s and 100amp units that'll work just fine. I got away without a belt change on mine, but depends on model you get.

May as well go for 100? You'll need to be doing some damage with your winch and accessories to need more than 100.

You can get larger, 120s etc. 100 would be largest I'd go for without switching out to a twin alt setup.

I had thought about stopping at 100 due to wire upgrades and whatnot.

Above 100A and the standard V belt may well slip. Upgrading the wiring is simple. Not much to change.

Just a couple of wires. So now to find a 100 amp alternator to fit the passenger side of the engine.

mine has never slipped using the standard 200tdi vee belt.

upgrade or at least double up the thick brown wires to starter & battery.

Time to get the spanners out and go buy an alternator.
