Hello,
I have bitten the bullet and just bought a Fourtrak.
I am now the proud owner of a 97P Fieldman, 128k, 3 owners from new and FSH, full MOT, £1200. She has no rust in the sills, a little bubbling on the body here and there but nothing bigger than a 10p piece.
Now I was thinking of putting some 16' steels on her. So I have a couple of questions,
1 - what steelies would do the job? i.e. fitment
2 - How big can you go on standard ride height without encountering steering/rubbing problems?
Its currently running 235/75 15 tyres on standard 15' wheels.
Also I want to pop a snorkel on her, any ideas?
Cheers,
Noel.
p.s. I'd put up a photo but can't figure out how

Hi, Suzuki wheels fit them. The biggest you can go is 235 75 15 without any rubbing or 255 70 15 but they both give about the same circumfrance. For all upgrades I go to www.bloodredoffroad.com basically because he does the best stuff and he is very helpfull and will make you anything you need unless you know a fabricator. There are cheaper alternatives but If you want truck and other stuff to last then don't bother with them. If you are offroading it then you will find it's a little low and it has a crossmember underneath that will need changing for a flat one or you will ground out very easily. Hope this helps
look forward to seeing the pics. Try uploading them to photobucket and there is a link that you copy and paste onto here. Someone else will describe it better

Is it long or short wheel base?
On my F70 I got 31/10.5R15's on with some wheel spacers, I think the SWB indie has the same size arches?

depending on the offset of the wheel you can fit 31" tyre's on but you need to remove the mud flaps,if you have too much offset you may need to push the front bumper forward abit, just file out the bumper mounting brackets

31X10.50X15 mud terrains fit, just move the front bumper forward about 5 mm by slotting the mounting holes with a file. It's a free mod.

cheers JoeyFourtrak - thanks for the info, although I reckon I might try 16' steelies rather than 15'. I have logged on to photobucket and will try and get a photo up on here.
Stal1878 - its a F78 LWB I believe. 31/10.5R15's I don't understand, this is not a tyre sizing I'm familiar with. Do 4x4's have some different sizing? or is it from the states?
Parrotveasey81 - I'll have a look underneath and check out the brackets.

31 10.5 15 is justa diffrent type of tyre size . . . easier to work out
31 inch high 10.5 inch wide and 15 inch rim

The size I stated was in inches(imperial) and some are in mm(metric) with rim size in inches.
Like muddy said, imperial is easier as your not mixing systems.

Try 31's then but I always understood that when it flexes up they will rub the arches on standard suspension???

if you dont understand 31,10.50-15 its metric equivelant is 255/75-15 but you wont find many listed for sale with that metric size as 31,10.50-15 is becoming very very popular now, check out fleabay.

I had 31x10.5x15 tyres on my trak but they rubbed on the suspension when flexed so I then fitted wheel spacers. The only other modification I needed to do was trim the front bumper a little as when turning and on the brakes the tyre touched a little.
One thing I did notice is that when I measured my 31" KL71's they were only about 29" high and my friend with 31" BFG M/T's were over an inch taller than mine!
I want some 33" Insa Turbos now I have a 2 inch body lift or 16" wheels to make it easy to source high but not wide tyres. I dont really want to go to a 33x12.5x15 as worried they will be a little too wide.

tyre sizes are an animal to get your head around. theres metric and imperial. in the case of tyres i find imperial easier to read, as it states actual inches instead of the confusing way metric is worked out.
i found this handy page for metric sizes, im sure theres more dotted around the net http://www.offroaders.com/tech/AT-MT-Tires/pmetric-inches.htm
ive been reading about tyres for three years now an still it largely baffles me, i actually work in a tyre shop, and still im confused.
thankfully ive found my ideal tyre size, which is 7.50 R16, so i can stop trying to figure it out. theyre not wide, so your not burning juice like a mad thing.
they are tall, 31.5 inches, and you can get them in mud terrains like the michelin xzl's, which i love.
