When changing the air filter I found engine oil in the pipe from air cleaner to turbo. What would I need to check? (200Tdi 120,000 miles.)

its probably coming from the breather pipe from rocker cover area. not to much of a problem just means the engine is breathing which is normal for a well used engine.
wait for the engine to cool down take turbo in pipe of give the turbine shaft a wiggl more than 1mm play in any direction means rebuild time but its more than likly the breather pipe

No excessive play in the turbo but just a some oil in the air filter housing - not enough to contaminate the filter. A small amount of smoke on startup - nothing noticeable when driving.

the puff of smoke on start up is normal. everything you've said so far indicates your tdi is a good'un in the prime of its life. just relax and enjoy it their a good engine.
