Here's the idea

Richardd wrote:

Everyone who wishes to participate should add their names to the thread I will shortly start in the TC section and note their current weight , their target weight AND (this is important) the weight they are aiming to be in 4 week's time and finally their chosen method of losing weight. My reason for this is for everyone to keep their targets achievable. Include if you wish (at any point) your % body SPAM.

Each Friday morning we should post our measured weight as at that morning and those who have not lost at least 2lbs (the recommended maximum) will owe £1 per lb missed (you gain 3 lbs you owe £5) payable at the end of each 4 week period.

If you reach your monthly goal, however, any payments owed are cancelled. Anyone wishing to sponsor us fatties to lose weight are more than welcome.

NOTE: the heavier you are the easier and faster you lose weight. I want to lose only 7-12lbs (I'll know once I weigh myself on Monday) but that is the hardest to lose!

I'm first in.
Current weight: 14st 6lbs or 91.5kg
Target weight: 13st 10lbs or 86.5kg
Target at 25th Feb '11: 14st or 88.75kg

Method: Atkins diet during the week (not 'induction' phase), careful and healthy at the weekend. No booze, sweets or chinese food.

Method fewer cakes and biscuits, smaller portions.

I like this thread, I'll give a go as we're off to Vancouver in April and I don't want my belly to be the first part of me that leaves the plane!!

However, weight isn't a major issue as I'll be doing a lot of weights as well as aerobic stuff so I'm looking at my clothes and I want to get back in a pair of 36" pants.

Current weight: 17.5 stone
Current waist: 38', pushing 40"

Target weight: whatever!
Target waist: 36"

Method: Hit the gym and fix my bike. I may even attempt a couple of good walk in the hills.

I will have a healthy breakfast and eat regularly.

Beeky chugger!

No, I think the triumph was 72 hours without alcohol. But I do remember Johnny Vegas taking the pish out of dieters a few years ago: "2 pounds? She lost Two pounds? In a month? I s**t more than that every morning!" Still, I'm now 15. 7. How about the rest of you?

I'm in!

Current weight: 15st 7lbs or 98.4kg
Target weight: 11st 00lbs or 69.8kg by the end of September 2011
Target at 25th Feb: 14st 13Lbs 94.80kg

I am hoping to do it by cutting out savoury snacks, cheese, booze and eating smaller portions, riding my bike, swimming, flying my power kites, finishing building my Zuk, walking a bit faster to/from the station.
I find the gym totally boring.
I can't cut out sugar as I don't use it in tea or even on cereals. On most days I hit my five a day target, although I have probably been down to 3 a day over the last 4 work shifts.

The height/weight charts say I should be 10st 7Lbs but I know that when I achieved that weight before, I looked like Skeletor and everyone thought I had AIDS or had been using the nose candy. Shocked

Current Weight 11st 7lbs.

I LOST 3 LBS!! Happy, happy lady. Very Happy

Target weight 9st 7lbs by Christmas 2011

Target weight by 25 Feb - 11st 2lbs.

I wasn't trying that hard, although I did eat a bit less than I have been doing lately. I didn't even stop eating cake. My office has a tradition that if it is your birthday, you've come back from holiday, you or your partner have had a baby, you have acquired a new cat or because it is Friday, there's cake. This week we had cake every day but Tuesday. See how hard it is????

Today I got SWMBO to get a little set of scales specially for portion control because I learnt to cook without measuring anything.

I looked up, "Normal portion of rice." The first website was American and said one cup. Which cup? The tiddy little cup or the one that one of my nephews bought me with, "World Champion Farter," emblazoned on it, which holds about a pint.

I then found a sensible website which said, "100g of rice is about right for portion control." So I cook 100g of rice and end up with more than twice what I would normally eat. It was only after my meal that I found they were talking about cooked weight! Embarassed To my credit I did put half in a container and put it in the freezer to ding at work at a later date.

Now I read that 75g uncooked weight is about right. The information on the packaging varies from brand to brand as well. Confused

I'm not the only one who is confused. http://www.sparkpeople.com/myspark/messageboard.asp?imboard=7&imparent=21365142
This is an American website and I can't make head or tail of Dietician Becky's answer.
Just to make it more confusing, the newer posts are at the top of the page. Rolling Eyes

they say 2 or 3 lbs per week (or about a kilo) is a safe healthy, maintainable weight loss.
I lost 3 lbs last week and probably put it all back on over the weekend eating pies at the Scotia Extreme!

still, my clothes are all falling off me now!

I have not been on the scales yet but I have three suits which I wear to work and I am now at the point where the trousers are held up by use of the Force (and a big safety pin) and I couldn't wear the skirt for one of them today as it fell straight onto the floor. Seems like things are moving in the right direction.
