i was looking on the pajero owners forum earlier trying to find out if the 2.8 engine will run on svo. the main feeling i got is you always have to mix the oil/derv out side the tank and a 50/50 mix seems the best way to go. the problem mentioned with the 2.8 shogun is the pump seals are prone to leaking. my question is how come the fourtrak doesnt seem to suffer with the pump seal problem as both cars have the bosch VE type pumps. and how come the fourtrak will run high percentages of veg no problem and you can just put a tenners worth of diesel into the fuel tank then dump in 15 litres of svo with no pre mixing needed (thats what i do anyway) with no ill effects?.

correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the 2.8 pump seal is the weak point in the whole system. It is not guaranteed to blow, but if anything were to go wrong, it'd most likely be that. not knowing anything about their dihatsu cousin, I'm not saying the fourtrak isn't prone to the same problem, but perhaps theres a weaker link somewhere in the fourtrak system that'd go before the pump seal?

oh, and some people do run 100% or higher percentages svo in mitsi's, its just noone wants to recommend it as it starts getting a little dicey (for any engine) from what people tell me some engines (of any particular manufacture) love it, some don't
