Few parts from Roughtrax

about due i think:

pressed back on:

into place minus drum backing plates

rough mock-up before discs turned down:

worked out link bracket sizes while mate was machining discs:

Discs back, caliper mounting can continue:

Back to the brackets as done about all i can to the disc conversion untill its all mocked up and can be fully welded once i know its in the right position,

my maths was correct, ideal!

if anyone is looking to disc convert these rear axles, i used Mk2 shogun discs turned from 18mm thick down to 12mm, mk2 hilux front discs can be used but they need the center enlarging and the hub turning down abit, and they aren't anywhere near as deep as the shogun discs so calipers end up being over the bearing retainer which wouldn't be ideal for mounting. Rear calipers are from a Renault Laguna mk2 just as they were what was cheap on ebay at the time, anything with an integral handbrake can be made to fit. using the old front calipers on the rear for the fiddles and upgrading the front to vented discs using surf calipers and mk3 hilux discs,

thats all for now

Alex1990 turbo from a 1.5 or 1.7 wouldn't be big enough i'm afraid,

cheers Allan, the red stays shiney but i think it wants baking in an oven to make it go proper hard i did about 4 light coats and the calipers were left on a night storage heater for a week and the paint is still abit soft, maybe when theyre used and get proper hot they will get a good baking Confused

havent done alot lately but will pad the thread out with some pics anyway...

few more brackets done:

and started on the main crossmember that will be home to front and rear lower link brackets, transfer/gearbox mount and front upper link mount

old x-members removed, new one in

notched out for transfer box

and a mate dropped this up last night

from a 3.1TD trooper, not sure how much (if at all) it is bigger than the standard 2.8 one by, need to take mine off and have a look at it,

thats all for now, JJ's should be here late next week so should be good progress next week / next weekend Smile

Doesn't look that much bigger than the standard one from the pics, but hard to tell. Let us know when you compare them!

Won't it increase the lag fitting that?

Its going to be really hard to work out which one is best, do you have access to a rolling road or something?

I still reckon you should go for sequencial(Sp?) ones! Very Happy

i wish i had a rolling road Sad will get all the turbos i can and work out which ones are even adaptable then depending on how difficult they will be to fit, then do some tests seeing what pressure they will make at what Rpm maybe, not sure yet will tackle it when i get to it, wouldnt mind a VNT turbo which should spool up at lower rpm but still be able to handle the gas flow

Well its been a month since the last update and absoloutely nothing has been done unfortunately Sad been busy doing other things but should be able to get some time in on the truck again soon, but the main reason for the update was because my box FINALLY arrived today (parcelforce decided they couldnt find my house so left it at post office 2weeks ago but didnt think letting me know would be a good idea Rolling Eyes Twisted Evil )
but anyway, pics:

complete box:

to give an idea of size:

and compared to the old rose joints Shocked :

worth the wait i think

Yes and no, the goalposts moved...quite a long way, so i started a new thread titled "jimny build" its in the custom builds section a few down from the top. i left this topic open as its got all the work i did on the axles in it and i couldnt be bothered to copy it all over Laughing
