take 4X Lidls special dishwasher tablets,
cram two in the tablet compartment,
rest the remaining two on the dirtiest calipers.
simmer for 90mins
return to find 6 lemon fresh spotless calipers, or in my case; 6 slightly cleaner calipers and a stinking filthy dishwasher,
cycle dishwasher appx 4 times on empty wash to attempt to cover your sins
job done

What caliper paint have you used?
I used Halfrauds on mine and it dries matt
I had to put a top coat of clear on to get them to look half decent

Nice .
I tried that with a dishwasher at an old flat once and it cleaned the item well but left a gritty feel in the basket rollers for ages.

my Calipers look nice and shiny Allan, was it spray you used? ( looks like it unless you got abit over excited with a brush and did the piston and rubber boot too )
sorry Ben intercooler is all mine but i am after a turbo though, don't suppose you have any big turbos kicking around at your work looking for a new home?
and yea Nivaman, dishwasher still stinks now! oh well aslong as my calipers are clean

Work has one from a Vaxhaull Movano/Renult Traffic.
We had a 4cyl Iveco Cargo 75E17 engine with we scrapped with a one of which would have been ideal Although might have been to much.
I don't know what the Movano engines are prob about 2.5? Might be the same PSI as the 'trak one though. Did you think about welding the wastegate shut on the Daihatsu one, or is 16psi not enough or worried about the turbo failing?

yeah i want to get about 15-16psi but not have to worry about the turbo failing, and at a slightly lower rpm so i'm thinking something from a 7.5ton truck or something would be ideal, just had a look on ebay and looks like there a 2.2 and 2,5 movano's but don't know what the pressures would be like compared to the 'trak

Ah right. I'll let you know if we get any smaller turbos in, they are reasonably sort after though, might be worth going to a breakers yard and just seeing what they have got about. Obviously the bigger you got the more lag your going to get.
Saying that, might be worth looking into consequential(???) setup? If you wanted low rev boost could you not bolt a smaller turbo with a quicker spool-up before the Daihatsu one?
Edit: If you go for a 7.5t turbo I would recommend the Iveco 75E series, they bloody fly if there not restricted! Also they use Garrett turbos, which are you know are good.

funnily enough i'm looking at a turbo from a 75e17 looks just the kiddy!, yeah don't want to go too big but think something like that could work well, also thought about a VNT turbo from an VAG group car but they seem to fetch £££, as it will be a bit of a project i dont want to spend mega money incase it doesnt work out, shame you scrapped that engine really! only scrappy near me is still 40min drive and not sure if they'll have much commercial stuff there, if you could keep an eye out that would be spot on mate
EDIT yeah thats the one i'm watching on ebay, never know what it might go for eh

We bought a Iveco 75E15 chassis cab to sell on, couldn't get anyone interested in it. Didn't have the time or space to make a beaver-tail out of it. Cut it up for scrap, kept the axles, engine, gearbox and cab. Kept it all for 2 years and sold the rear axle. Another year later we scrapped the engine and cab, still got the front axle pushed under the bench and the gearbox is set to go on the next run. If you asked anyone if it was all worth keeping they would tell you you'd be a fool to get rid of it..... Just the way it goes though
Speaking about Iveco turbos, I spoke to a guy today who lorries we are about to start doing, he cut up a 75e15 or 17 recently and has the engine and box. I'll ask him when I see him again is the turbo is for sale separately.

yeah its weird how things go! well yeah if you hear of anything let me know,
i wonder if fitting a turbo from a modern diesel which will run at higher pressures would be a way to go? i read earlier 1.9cdti vectra's boost at 21psi , which i would have thought would mean it should make the 16 ish psi i want pretty quickly and at fairly low RPM especially as the 2.8 would have more gasses flowing through it, but not sure if it would handle the amount of exhaust gasses at full chat? anyone an expert on turbos/diesel tuning??

Yea like you say with it being a bigger engine it might not agree with the turbo once its up to RPM.

Its actually nearly brand new, it went and we put it on, then 2 weeks later the cambelt broke when he was going down the motorway and he scraped the van. The casting still looks "new" if you get what I mean, no oil in the pipes.

I don't know what its worth, so don't feel like I'm trying to rip you off or anything.
I asked my boss and he said £100 for it.
Shame he can't find the 3ltr one, how can you lose a turbo?
Like you say don't know how much of an upgrade my/works turbo would be, unless you bolt it behind the Daihatsu one?

that sounds a good price to me,what is it off of as the newer turbos boost quicker and keep going for longer plus what is the waste gate set at??

Hmm, it was the newer style Vauxhall Movano which is the same as the renult vans and apparently the same turbo off the Iveco Daily. I don't know what the wastegate opens at, but the actuator rod is adjustable so....

just had a little look into it, price seems fairly good for a nearly new turbo as you say i'm just worried about size,
the 2.7 terrano's , and 2.5 discoverys use a gt2052 turbo which is bigger than the one you have so i'm thinking it probably won't be up to it as the fourtrak is a bigger motor
have to make my mate look harder for the X5 one, it needs a rebuild but the parts are only ~£50 , its the next size up from the 2052 which discoverys etc use so should be a nice size
