hay all you guys and gals

rite just had a few ideas to up the power on my mk2 2.5td with intercooler

woulld fitting a 2.8 turbo and injectors make a diffrence to the output at all..... see oldskool tuning is ticking in my head

more air (bigger turbo)+ more fuel (bigger injectors) = a bigger bang

im not much good with derv engines so any knowlage you guys can pass on would be great

think it would be a non runner buddy,2.5 pump would not be st up to run bigger injectors and pumps arent interchangeable, have you any mods done to it yet?if not let me know and i can put up some basic but very effective mods to make the 2.5 a lot more driveable.

basicly the pump is turned up a little other than that its boggo standard

so with the pump turned up to feed the bigger turbo and injectors it would struggle to find fuel Shocked who would have thought that with the amount that it drinks allready Laughing

so hit me with this info then im dead interested in this subject Cool

Ok then buddy, first off rip out the EGR valve and throw it over your shoulder, make up 2 blanking plates for the holes that are left and block the vaccuum pipe that used to feed it.
then put 3mm of washers under the turbo wastegate actuator to raise it up from the inlet manifold(increases boost)
then on the top of the injector pump is a small 10mm nut locking an allen head bolt in place, put allen key in and slacken the lock nut and turn the allen key 180 degrees clockwise and lock it up again, do not go more than 180!!!!!!
turn your pump back to whee it was set before and take it for a run, should be a lot more responsive, if its not smoky adjust your fuel back up a little bit until its just at the point where its not too smoky.
Set your tappets and check your timing and give it a good service.
most important is run a can of 10k boost through it and it should go pretty well.
I have done all this to my sport and its far livelier than standard and even uses a drop less fuel unless driven really hard.
Any questions let me know and i will do my best to sort ya out mate.

might be worth having a look around the local breakers for a bigger intercooler. something like a written off nissan skyline, 200sx, escort/sierra cosworth etc where theres a chance someone could of fitted an uprated intercooler. could be possible these days with all the snow and ice making people crash. add a bigger exhaust as well and you'll be flying especially with the pump tweeked up.

look into water methanol injection Cool
have you turnd the diaphragm??

no point in bigger injectors unless you up grade the pump as well as its the pump that push's the fuel though more.

bigger turbo is not always better as you get more lag Crying or Very sad

bigger intercooler will help alot with more boost but dont forget the intercooler will do nothing offroad unless it has a fan on

dont try going mental with them, just do the few little bits or it starts costing big money, somene on pocuk did it and it was proper impressive but there must have been a LOT of £££'s in it!

ive got

fuel pump tweeked,
diaphragm turned 90 degrees,
waste gate raised,
sealed induction air filter,
straight through exhaust, and its more driveable, but its still slow! Mad

also they were never designed to be quick cars, just do the few odds and sods and keep thinkin when things go flying past you that they must just have little willies!

yours is a diesel yea, well 4000rpm is just about flat out for the revs so you will need taller gears or taller tyres to go faster.

your mates is a petrol??he will have more rpm's than you so will get more top end or if his is a diesel he must have bigger tyres or different gearing

Don't know how he is gettin 125 out of a 2.5 mate, they are much lower geared than the 2.8, any engine mods won't improve top speed but as you say just make it more drivable, even putting 33" tyres on it won't give you much more top end so not much you can do mate unfortunately.

Hmm As Parrot is saying, if yours and your mates trucks are the same he can't be doing 125 at 4000rpm when your doing 80 at 4000rpm.
Either he has a different box in it or you've got a problem with yours....

i have been in at 115mph and it was still pulling it did feel fast as well but it could have felt fast as its a tall 4x4 not a normal car

the gap may not be that big as if mine is 10-15% lower and is is the same but over then what sounds like a huge gap is not

sat nav in each car and away up the motorway

You would both have to be 20mph+ out for the difference.

But like you said, get the satnavs out and see what the crack is Very Happy

bigger or smaller tyres will give you differant reading

if you think mk2s are slow try a mk1 about 70 top end (chacked with sat-nav) on motorway Embarassed

at least i wont get stopped fo speeding Razz

but its happy doing 60 all day

ps
my speedo reads differant when i change from my MT tyres to my roadtyres (road tyres are smaller then my MTs)
