Looks like steering link is still in place. If the whole box had gone I'd expect that part to be waving around. I'll buy into a 'box snapped in half' though Either way, the Volvo was never meant to take a smack like that __________________________________ https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC3l3zoaCabKrgBSULSV1YgA
Dunno, it only kissed the ground and it snapped clean right away, its not like it landed hard directing onto it and dug in.
maybe if it's the kind of kiss a redneck gives his wife/sister
nah, defo whole portal box - you can see the portal "cup" on the end of the axle when its on its side..
tis the weak link of the axle the way the portal box is held onto the axle.. its only really two bolts through he kingpins. weight, angle and speed = snap
makes me cringe when i hear that sound __________________________________ (can't cut straight) - Differs Tart #1

I've hit puppies and kittens harder than that for just being too furry and cute.
Nah, there must have been something awry there for that to happen. The offset on the wheels is huge but the vehicle's obviously had a few harder landings than that feeble 'run along on two wheels' before this happened. I reckon a fully loaded Volvo in the Military takes a harder smack than that on a daily basis. Are there aftermarket 'upgrades' falling apart here or a previous hard knock against a rock just surfacing? The original vehicle has a cross country rating of 4.5 tons.
If he was running Mog axles would he be posting the same times carrying an extra 1/2 ton of unsprung weight?
im pretty sure the track rod gave out first causing the axle to snap to full lock making the resistance much greater as it tries to rip that big grippy tire across the floor. something had to give __________________________________ Everybody welcome to trials club, visit www.ncortc.com every third sunday of the month
