hi i have got a 3.5efi v8 discovery fitted with a single point lpg kit with a tank under each sill. the engine is getting tired and has lots of running issues and i also dont like the thought of taking it offroad with 2 big gas tanks strapped to the sills so iam going to replace the v8 with a diesel lump and remove all the lpg kit. i dont know much about lpg systems so i thought id best ask what is the safest way to remove it. are there valves in the tanks to stop the gas leaking out when i undo the pipes or should there be some sort of tap to turn the gas off?

if there the correct type of tanks (meet EU standards) there should be a manual cut off next to the output, the out (engine feed) is the smaller of the two pipes, the approx 1.5" cube box is the 12v solenoid valve, these can stick so make sure you turn the manual tap off if there and be carefull when undoing pipes. it's not unusual for there to be latent gas in the pipes, should only take a couple of seconds. lpg gas is heavier than air and can settle in things like pits so make sure that where you do it it's open and well vented, also another way to make even safer is to run the tanks empty first.
