I've just had a very long chat on the phone with one of the senior moderators of Difflock regarding the advertising issue and the deletion of threads.
The advertising policy will remain as it is for the time being. The main reason for this is administrative but there are other practical reasons which I'll not go in to here. The moderator in question did agree that some method of notifying members of adverts appropriate to a particular vehicle section could be useful and this suggestion has been taken on board. There is a major overhaul to the Difflock forum in the pipeline and these suggestions will be considered at that point.
With regard to the deleted threads in the Lada section the moderator agreed that the action could have been handled more sensitively but given the volume of members and posts on Difflock it is often impractical to give each situation the consideration it merits. I also agreed with him that some of my posts were somewhat undiplomatic. As far as I'm concerned the matter is now closed.
It has come to my attention that certain members of the Lada community have been extremely abusive to both the owner and moderators of Difflock. I regard this behaviour as unacceptable. There is no call for personal abuse no matter how much we disagree.

I appreciate the fact this thread has been posted.
I trust that this positive message along with my explanation in a previous thread gives a clearer picture of why there are rules and regs. I can assure everyone across all user groups the management and admin of the site is in the interests of EVERYONE.
It is finding a balance and thats where we will sometimes agree to disagree.
I want to draw a line under the abuse we at OEC have experienced. We have endured this throughout this discussion / debate and i am proud of how well my team at work managed the situation (considering some of the admin team think a difflock is fitted to car and not a forum!!) All said and done from our side, case is closed.

Sure, such abuse is indeed unacceptable - but lumping the opinions of those of us with the same views but a non-abusive approach has not served anyone and probably unnecessarily fuelled this disscussion.
I am glad to hear that our needs have actually been listened too, and that there's even a proposed compromise. Well done GB et al. Onwards...
