hi all
right im fintting my engine in to my disco p-reg 300tdi. none edc
its been abount 9 mths since i pulled the old engine from the truck the power loom that comes from the bulk head around the engine and on to the inner r/h wing also has alternator wiring in it. theres a plug for the big relay next to the fuse box. another wire that goes in to the fuse box(alt feed) then a single heavey black wire that has a ring terminal on the end??? this wire where dos it go i never marked were it was from and dont want to blow somthing. wire also has a small black wire that earths out on the body mount under the fuse box. does anyone also now what this is for?

try positioning the wire around the engine bay and see what it can reach , are you sure it aint anothr earth , , will have a look on mine when it stops peeing down !!

thanks just tryed unless ive missed something. the only places it can reach is the battey. but im wondering if i have put the cables in the corect place or rooting around the metal of the header tank and fuse box got a bad pic but may help.
the red scots locker is only temp. thats the small black wire i was talking about. im holding the other wire. has a ring term which would fit battery.

cant you work out where the other end of it is? if your not sure which the other end is/or is going to, try continuitity testing it on a few likely ends (dissconected from what ever).
this should give you an idea atleast, as to what it's for and where it should be going too.

Going by the sheath over it , the same one goes to the positive , clean the wire underneath and see if it is brown , but looking at mine its a positive wire .

Yeah , pull the sheath covering it back a bit , it should be brown .

yep brown is the wire under the mud. thanks for checking your cars
