hey guys
i have a 90 pickup that was originally a 2.5td and has a 200tdi disco engine in.
now ive having to fish out the box soon anyway so while its out i want to upgrade to a tdi box to give the better ratios to match the tdi and the 1.2 transfer box.
now due to there not being many defender boxes about up for sale... could a disco box be converted by swapping selectors?

The disco box is longer than the normal defender box so the bulkhead requires modification to squeeze it in.
It can be done but I would stick to a defender box if you can find one

Hi to fit a disco box into a 90, give us the type number of the present box ,eg 50A, 56A for a full listing of what you will need, it could involve:- change the pinion shaft, change the rear housing, change the selector rail, change the shifter assembly. All doable but be sure you have the replacement parts before you buy a replacement box as the individual parts may well cost more than the whole . Regards Ian Ashcroft

i sent you an email about boxes the other day asking what you would give me for all the ones i have lying around
ive decided the r380 stubby is out of my price range so im thinkin i might plum for a LT77 from yourself with the tdi ratios as it needs a new clutch and rear crank seal anyway.
