Love it! Very Happy To be fair, your landing probably did less damage to your RR, than your friend (Laura was it?) did to her Jeep.

You cleared the 'exit' ramp, where as she poughed straight in to it! Very Happy Good job on her part though, I wouldn't want to jump a Jeep - fair play! Very Happy

For those who want a tantalising glimpse: Shocked

Just to the left of where you landed is a 40 foot deep gulley. Last year I saw a Jeep do the same hump but he went over the edge. The only thing that stopped him was a tree growing out of the side.

Or it could have ended up like this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eo50xoz8swo

or this

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvUp-5bR6IQ

Go join the AWDC and do that sort of stuff with the proper safety equipment and organisation as doubt an inertia belt will stop your head getting stuffed through the window......any of them.

That sucks. To my untrained eye I couldn't tell which trucks out of the first video were going to flip, whats makes it happen? Was that petrol or water pouring out of the engine bay in the first vid? Crashes appear so much worse when the engine screams like that....

That's the whole point Stal.

Going that fast is completely unpredictable as every angle of a lump in the ground is different every time.

You saw us at West Harptree and on the final run I was sometimes hitting top gear....and on others not, because the car was getting out of control.

The point I am trying to make is that mazza, you are lucky to have survived that without a scratch mate.......and I don't mean the car.

Mazza, seems you have the guts but not the gear. If you want to do it that fast then get the gear as it is a lot cheaper than your life and those around you.

Join a club that does timed trials or safari

All you need to survive is;

Snell 2005 helmet with MSA blue sticker (roll cage or steering wheel beats head every time)
MSA Spec roll cage
MSA clubmans non race licence for time trial or full race licence (involves a medical) for safari
Strong car, as it looks like yours fell apart on impact.
Spare diffs, shafts, cv's oil, and enough tools to change them in a muddy field with the help of your mates.

And a properly organised event with marshals and the permission of the MSA for insurance purposes.

An insight to a timed trial section and sorry about the crooked kneck

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cKJ2yEWFyOk

p.s Stal....that was water from the radiator when the cap flew off

going a little slower than the origanal post i think?

seeing as a lot of people think P&P sites are great areas to take family pets, let alone their little kids to run around, its only a matter of time before someone dies. i know i wouldnt want to be responsible.

i had an old girlfriend who needed 8 stitches in her eye brow after a minor bump in a mates landy at a P&P, that was bad enough, then her parents went on to try to sue my mate, the club he belonged to AND the land owner. That was the end of that relationship!

That's an odd crash, mind you its difficult to see the slope of the terrain on a video, I guess its one "you'd need to be there".

i especially like the shout of "!! MEDIC !!" just after it stops rolling.

although shouting "put it in low box and foot off the loud pedal before going down hills" before hand might have been more usefull.

In fairness to the driver, without actually seeing the accident or driving that area yourself, its almost impossible to say what he did wrong. Slopes are always deceiving on videos, etc. Obviously some kind of error was made, maybe it was to try that descent in the first place or maybe it could have been driven down safely in a different way, but I'd not be able to suggest any more without being there and having a better look etc.

I have seen more trucks rolled going up hills than down them. Some I have seen rolled at P & Ps have done so with wife & kids in normal seatbelts and with assorted bits and pieces flying around inside the cabin. Luckily, most have just gone on their side but there is always the potential for them to go right over onto the roof.

Even green and red routes have the potential for a roll, if driven by a novice with little idea, which is why I was glad that, when I was a novice, I was taken round by somebody who knew what they were doing and who helped me to learn the limitations of the vehicle I was driving.
