Umm - you sure you have a manual for a Jimny???

I have never seen such a setting on a Jimny.

Welcome to the forum.

Is that an instruction for an early Suzuki that is refered to as a Jimny, & americans seem to think are Jimny's.

For a Jimny built from 1998 you need to modify your air intake for your air filter by getting it away from under the offside wheel arch,
where going through a puddle can flood your air box.

& also get shot of the paper filter for one that will not disintegrate at the hint of dampness.

Next mod for me would be a pair of recovery points at the front & a pair at the rear.
next is to uprate the transfer box mounts.
thats if your going offroad.
have fun.

greatings!

roll cage, so when you drop the tree branch, (which you always end up dropping in the wrong place at least once) it doesnt right off the truck. Laughing

Just get some mud tyres and possibly a small lift.

On my Jimny, 2001 Y plate, the air intake goes from the filter box out through the inner wing behind/above the plastic inner arch then back through the inner wing into the engine bay between the filter box and the headlamp. On the end of it there is a 90degree rubber bend which swivels round. I would have thought, though I've not read the manual, summer would be swivelled towards the front to take in cool air and winter swivelled towards the back to take in warm engine bay air. There are of course two other settings, upwards to take in the rain if the bonnet is open and downwards to suck up the water if you're wading really deep!
Not sure which setting mine is on or if it's even still there!!
Cheers,
John.

yea its so true about the branches, iv broken a few fences sheds and a stone alligator lol.
yea its deffo a guide for a jimny, it mite just be the pipe with a right angle behind the head lite.
are diff gaurds and underbody protection worth it?
how good offroad will it be compared to my hilux? its alot lower but less front and rear overhangs. just gotta get some decent AT's in time for winter any idea where i can get a cheap set?

A local tyre centre if you need them fitted.
www.4site4x4.co.uk
or
www.tyresdirectuk.co.uk
www.4x4tyres.com
www.camskill.co.uk

Diff guards,(offers protection but you stiil cant bash into rocks)
Underbody protection are all adding more weight, so things sit lower unless you have springs lifting things..
Its down to how your going to use it.
Standard jimny's work well with just good pattern tyres IMO
A bit bigger on the tyres will lift the diffs a little,
A bit higher with the springs will lift the underside.

A set of mud tyres will take you most places, choose your route you shouldnt need extra protection.

watch the down pipe near the catyltic converter for cracking.
then there are vacum hubs to watch out for playing up.
www.bigjimny.com
will tell you most things about modding a jimny.
have fun.
