Hi!
Anyone know where the relay for the turn signal is located on a Lada Niva 1700?
Would love to know.
Cheers

On a LHD, remove the instrument cluster from behind the steering wheel. Look to the top, right of the hole created, all the way to the bulkhead (firewall). There you'll see the relay bolted in place with an 8mm nut. There's also two earth wires bolted in place there. No reason why you can't put the relay somewhere more accessible, leaving the earths, of course!

Conclusion..
Disconnected battery.
Removed the 2 bolts under the dash and pulled the plastic cover towards the wheel to release the 2 springs holding the top.
Once removed it was easy to unscrew the 2 plastic things holding the gages and easing it out enough to see and remove/unplug (keeping the 2 grounds where they were) the old relay (fiddly busniess).
Then relocating the new relay down a bit to the side of the stereopanel with a zip.
Thanks again for the help guys.

Any idea why it failed?
Open the old one and see if the circuit board is melted down near the termination points. If it is it has had a short circuit at some time with a fuse of to higher amp value.Be a good idea to ensure the correct rated fuse is fitted while you are at it.
