Morning,
Friend of mine is having issues with his Vit - when in neutral theres a 'tinkling' noise seemingly coming from the gearbox area.
When he depresses the clutch pedal, the noise disappears.
My thoughts are thrust bearing, does this sound like the correct diagnosis?

Yep release bearing / thrust bearing what ever you want to call it.
