Hi Guys,
What's the going rate for a pair of Marcedes G wagon axles. The ones I'm looking at are from a 51 plate, and the guy wants £450 for them. Good price?
Cheers
Rich

Don't know Rich, but it is much less than one aftermarket locker.
Are you getting the transfercase too?

There's a rolling chassis on ebay at the moment which appears to be cheap as chips - axles, transfer....

if there off a 463 model they are worth the money- the prop rotation is the same
460 model G's had contra rotating props
463's started production in the late 80's if i remember correctly

Rear diff is central front is offset but they wont work under a zook without a loy of work because the front diffs contra rotate ie. the wrong way for a zook ... you would end up with axles fighting each other

a 51 plate are you sure? if so these are 463 axles, 463 started production in 90 and sold from 91 here in the uk. if you are getting a set of 51 plate axles for £450, then your mad not to buy them. The short front half shaft in them is £600 alone. Its a no brainer.

air over hydraulic lockers, front and rear, they work on a vacuum. they arent instant like that of an arb,on a landy. I know someone who has converted theres to air, but the catellations on G lockers is such that they have less, but larger teeth, so engaging can be sometimes delicate, slower to engage due to the distance between the castellations.
Its a great conversion, if you have the time.

Not sure at all mate, its the newer shape model (The one they did on topgear as the brabus edition) both with lockers as the switch panel was still in the car. Theres no plates on it and the scrappy wasnt sure either.
