Off the point a bit but,
I cant stop thinking,
they keep puting money into trips to space, mars, moon, space lab, space shuttle etc. etc.
Huge science, brain/computer power & expense,

But cant stop oil escaping from below the sea bed. Confused
(even if it is a mile down.)

They need to get their priorities sorted i think.

I can't believe that they were allowed to drill that deep without having some safety features built in, where is the "off tap" ? I would have thought that there would have been a requirement for a safety valve built in to the first couple of sections of the pipeline that is in the well. I guess we have Bush to thank as he made life a lot easier for oil companies to go drilling without adequate safety procedures in place. A bit like we have Bliar and Bonkers Brown to thank for our side of the financial crisis as they systematically reduced the regulation of banking.

Governor Charlie Crist would get my vote! He seems to have a more open and forward thinking mind than other governors that have been on the news over here.

Cheers, John

The 'off tap' is what they're trying to cap, apparently it was damaged and the batteries were flat.

i dont understand why its going to effect our oil prices so much. Most of our comes from the middle east and even as close as east scotland, so whys oil pumped from mexico mostly (going to america) "apparently going to raise our oil prices?

You know why!? I think because the goverment will take full advantage of americas problems and bump the prices up for their own benefit.
influential america + oil + white beaches + britains debt = "britains" gain and ££££

Red Adair used to snuff out surface oil well fires with nitro glycerin, so why can't they fire some high explosive down the well and explode it so that several hunderds of thousands of tons of rock throttle it off?............... or would that be too permanent?

please tell me stfu if im going on, but why cant they quickly develop an enclosure attached to pipe lines to oil tankers above to go down to the end of the pipe clamp around the broken pipe then pump up to tankers, no more major oil spillage and they can then repair the pipe.
or is this me using too much common sense Rolling Eyes
i know its not as easy as ive said but you get the idea. hopefully.

well if the taps broken, and theyve clamped round the broken bit how would they be able to fix it? (unless they fixed the tap first, which proably cant be done if its still in use).

Basically they are fooked in my eyes, until all the oils out the reservoir. Or they manage to completely block the pipe below the hole, and that would still leave the pipe sticking out the ground and risk of it leaking due to the oil pressure pushing out.
