Hi all......
ok, i have decided to get an Axial SCX10 but not sure about radio, speed controler, servo etc.
I would imagine the speed controler would have to be fairly amps and what about the motor? is a standard 540 ok or does it have to be something different.
I have read that the steering servo has to be metal gear, does it need to be hight torque as well?? Sorry about all the questions but it's been about 20 years since i have had a RC truck and they were prety much all the same then , things have changed now me thinks lol.
Any suggestions would be appreciated, cheers Brian

well bud as for the speedo you wont need to get a high amp one if your going to run a 540 or less motor.... something with a drag brake would be an advantage.. as for the motor a 35turn crawler or drift motor will give you good torque but also a bit of wheel speed... servo next.. i would look at a high torque servo rather than speed as you wont be going that fast to warrant it. try looking at a traxxas one there also waterproof or a tower pro.
please feel free to contact me if you want any other info...

Hey landenty,
thanks for the info , should be picking up the kit this coming week with any luck . Just one thing i'm not sure about, what is a "drag brake", not hear that one before.
Also, is there any tx/rx that is better for a rock crawler, i do prefer sticks to a wheel, just a personal thing but, i have read that there is now a different type of radio set up, 24 mhz or something like that, is there any real difference??
Help is appreciated, Brian

Think of the drag brake as engine break in a 1:1 truck Can't go wrong with a spektrum Dx3e 2.4ghz radio.

Thanks for all the advice so far , the SCX 10 is now nearly built, if anyone is interested i will put some photo's on, just got the motor and electrics to get and fit.
I'm now at the stage of spraying the body shell...... do i need any special paint or, as long as it's ok for plastic, will any type do?
I have to say that, as far as kit quality goes, i cannot fault the Axial. The instructions are a bit vague sometimes as you are only looking at drawings but, once understood it all goes together really well. I have only been doing the build an hour or so at a time (work keeps getting in the way ) but i would estimate build time, so far, at around 10 hours. I'm looking forward to see how it performs once finished,
Cheers Brian
