i have always found standard td5's a little guttless in the low rev range.
put a strate through centre pipe in and get shjot of the particulate filter and your turbo will spool up faster.
also a new fuel filter and a high flow air filter will help it breath.
on my 300tdi i have a stainless 2.5" strate through side exit no boxes at all and to be honest i dont notice it over the tyre and engine noise, but then my tdi is in an old 90 with little sound proofing.
youll probably be better off with a remap but then again you may not have a few hundred quid knocking about.

As RAy Jr says, ditch the front downpipe & the centre box, It won't be that much noisier. I had an Autologic remap on mine, 143BHP, 333lb/ft of torque. If you want more torque & bottom end pulling power (For towing etc) fit a bigger intercooler as well.

i have a td5 intercooler on my 300tdi, apart from the pipework being a pain in the backside it seems to pull better in the hot weather i think thats because of the biger surface area.

in rough order of price, effect and ease of fitting:
K&N filter
straight through (de-cat) exhaust piece
full sports exhaust system
big intercooler
silicone hoses
engine remap
I get 196BHP and 327lbsft from the 90 and (allegedly) 200BHP 335lbsft from the disco. They are both very different animals from standard with massively improved low down torque and the 90 is especially easy to drive.
It can be pricey but worth it if you do a lot of towing/fully loaded driving.

The lack of a Cat doesnt effect the MOT test if the vehicle passes its emmisions test.

I would suggest you maybe upgrade the front brakes or make sure they are vented (With matching calipers) as mine suffered brake fade and had genuine L.R fitted discs & pads all round. P.S. the 110 items are bigger (calipers & pads are longer) and should be a straight swap.

yes thats a good point, uping the power plus all the gear that i have bolted on to it,it will need a brake up grade, the 90 is a 2006 but its still got solid discs so up grading to vented cross drilled would be a smart move,by the way cagey who did your remap, its an autologic set is it,and did it make a big difference, cheers lance

Sorry for the delay in replying, North East 4 x 4 did mine. (Near Stonehaven) Iain Wright (Titch) and yes, a big difference, most noticable when towing as you can hold 5th gear nearly everywhere as before you had to drop a gear. It also made the 90 fly !!
P.S.Also Mann 4 x 4 (BORDC club members also do Autologic)

thanks for the reply cagey, but im going a for TD5 alive tuning package including the bigger intercooler, turbo boost box and a custom remap,i thought i would go this way as each map is wrote for that particular engine so you can get the best from it,i was telling him about the club of which he hadnt heard of so i put him right as a result we all can get 10% off(perhaps i should tell james and he could stick something on the web site)but even with a bit of discount i have still got to sell a kidney to pay for it so it better be worth it,im geting it done end of next week so i shall report back on the result
