|

Hi Can anyone help me. I plan on fitting an xud turbo.diesel engine into my commercial vitara. Can I replace the original engine with the more powerful unit from a xantia,I've been told the turbo will cause me problems. Had any one fitted these engines in there vit as most info I've found is for non turbo. Sorry for all the questions at the mo but my vit knowledge is limited and I'm trying to research all my options before I start the project,so I can plan exactly where I'm going with it. Thanks Dave

I've been told the turbo will foul the steering and that the turbo oil pipes foul the o/s engine mount. I don't want to buy the engine if it won't fit as I can get a good block and head with no ancilaries for free and swap my smaller turbo etc over. The extra power of the xantia lump appealed to me.

The extra power comes from the turbo and pump - the block and head will be near identical on both engines.

the turbo was pretty close to the steering link but did clear, and i made my own mounts so missing oil lines wasnt a problem.

It's a standard 1.6 8v gearbox with a different bellhousing.
