my mate has just bought a 300tdi disco p reg but the diff lock is jammed it will not move over to lock the diff. any idears what it could be.

Probably lack of use means the links have siezed. Get underneath and spray with penetrating oil. Work the lever until it frees up. If that does not work remove the plastic covering around the little lever so you can see what you are doing. A bit of patience will sort it.

Edit to say try moving the lever when moving slowly. Walking pace.

yep, the linkage is siezed because its never been used.

get underneath it wath a tin of pluss gas and a small hammer and give it a good spray and a light tap while someone above gives the knob a good waggle about Wink

I m ust say, with the instruction "Get underneath it with a spray can", really means, "Lie on your back and spray oil into your face!"

I would go from the other side, Remove the centre consul from the Disco, gear handles, etc, and once you can see the gearboxes, then you can spray downwards (in the warmth), and see what you are doing.
