in my 300tdi defender when i put my foot down my lights dim slightly then brighten back up when i take my foot off. this doesnt happen when in neautral. I was told it could possible be the earth from battery to chassis or engine to chassis?

Any ideas to put a light on the subject?

Could you be going so fast, that you are approaching the speed of light?

Oh no, it's a Landrover.
Earth strap it is then.
Although, Diesel engines don't use much in the way of electric to run. Unless the injection system uses lots of electric.

I know on my van that the earth strap fell off the engine, and I couldn't stop it as there was no power to the engine stop.

Hi,
check and clean the earth straps would be my first port of call,
next would be the regulator on the alternator, could be playing up, this regulates the amount of charge to the battery,
next check the battery itself, might not be accepting charge/holding charge.

Any number of people change alternator for££££££££££ instead of a couple of quid on a regulator!
