on a disco 1 5 door with the archs cut out to the flared bit .

4 inch springs

2 inch spring spacer

2 inch body lift

making 8 inch lift overall and say rough county plus 11 shocks on minus 2 mounts and cones all round

what tyre size would be possible?

you dont realy want to be going over 35's gearing will be greatly reduced and the truck will handle like a dog with no low down power.

in your signiture it says v8tvr ? do you have a tvr engine init or is that plans for the future ? surely if you do there wont be a real need to change the diffs. as the extra bph could cope with it being a bit under geared right?

How big are you looking to go as with that lkift you could probably squeeze 38's on but i hope you have many spares for th axles.

Thats a lot of lift if especially if your prepared to trim the arches.

my mate had 35"s on his disco with much less lift. you'll also get very good at changing diffs and CV's

I think he acheived what he wanted.
'The look'.
& a very high centre of gravity & an unstable vehicle.

I hope there isnt going to be much weight going on the roof rack?
Looks like an accident waiting to happen sadly.

what do you use the disco for can i ask? is it social and pay and play use or do you go on experdition trips even then whats the massive lift about? beucase as like whats been said that roof rack fully loaded is gonna make one un stable landrover, and im no expert at offroading in fact i can say iv only ever driven once but thats what im building my range rover for,

anti roll bars will not lower the centre of gravity.

You have sent the cog way up in the sky between the lifts and the added weight up top. All this is being combatted by only 4 inch track gain.

Yhe point is you simply dont need to go this high and running this size of tire with out serious pennies being spent on the axles will just result in to a fast groing scap pile on your drive.

A well thought out 2-4 inch lift that travels well with 33's on a disco will be much more effective than what your planning. Chopping the arches is the best way to get the the big rubber on not just lifting to the sky.

point 6, (back to the roll cage)
even more weight added to the already high centre of gravity.

David p, I really dont want to slag your vehicle.
I am just at a loss to its purpose.
It is very high, & very noticable.

Its obviously taken time & money, but what is it being built to do??
& where is it to be used.

Its only my opinion,
but as an off-roader it will be hindered by its height
& possibly its weight.
As an on road vehicle, is it not a handful to drive?

yes i agree a cage would add weight but surely the safety with a high truck would be crazy not to have one in black route section offroad.

on the road , well dave from llama 4x4 reckon it would be an animal on the road which can only mean

drive it with respect not like a bull in a china shop.

i think i can counter balance the centre of gravity, low down by having 2 underslung lpg tanks , usal underbelly gaurds and have both winches once fitted low down

front one inside the steering guard abit and the rear chassais mounted underneath the rear crossmember

Thanks for that.
Have you driven it on a 'black route section offroad' someplace?
or do you mean thats your aim for it?

I dont know these places,
but if they are 'black routes' then good on you. Your braver & a far better driver than me.

I love the bob tail look. What an amazing transformation.
To me it just looks so right.
Have fun.

I have had several off-road/play bobtails.
Only the rear body/overhang was bobtailed,
never the wheelbase shortened.

They didnt sit high either.
As long as the tyres have room to move without fowling anything.
Strength & reliabilty is the secret i believe.
If you can get that & still be light you have cracked it.

you're being far too diplomatic George,
with that big a lift off road on any sort of incline/sideslope you are asking for trouble.
looks good but totally unusable for anything other than posing

great truck you have their mate a load of work and money must have gone into it, how many uj's do you eat in a week?

i have said this before and im saying it again, call me a miserable git if you wish...

I have never realy seen the point in lifts, I have been offroading now for about 3 years, I have had an interest and been a winch bitch for much longer. I dont have a lift on my 90 and i wont get one, as i simply dont need one, it seems most people cant wait to buy a truck and lift it to the heavens and then call it a BEAST!

Most of what gets people stuck is actualy diffs dragging or crap tyres aswell as just pathetic driving.

fair doo's on some vit drivers and disco owners who wanna fit 33" boots, but a huge lift isnt always the answer, get cutting those arches, or put up with smaller rubber, your transmission will thank you for it.
