just picked up a n reg fourtrak, needs a bit of work(but dont they all)plan is to fit some 32" tyres, lift the front up to level it out, make and fit rock/tree sliders and posabley make front and rear bumpers but they will depend on what i have to cut/mod to fit the tyres as i would like to keep the std look(after modding my mates hilux that looks std but goes most places,i just love the looks on people's faces as most say that wont make then it does priceless)or just keep the std bumpers and fit a nice strong recovery point front and rear, any how on with the pics as we all like pics

*** knows how he fitted them, had some strange ideas at times.

Our indy wasn't very good offroad either, I got it stuck on that low slung centre crossember quite a lot...

Winding up the torsion bars should be pretty easy tho.

heres my old trak, got me into and out of some bloody awful places, one thing i would do if your using her on road is add the higher lights, those in the bumper are prone to getting smashed

this is a big drop onto the beach from mud which it handled both ways no problems

Where did you join on the new 3" pipe Parrot? Onto the front pipe? From the shaky picture it looks a very nice job. What box have you got on there, a glass pack/straight through one? Sound good, or like a tractor like you were worried about? Razz

i joined it from the flange off the down pipe(pretty much straight off the turbo just has the small 90 degree then mine),i used a universal 3" mild steel silencer from www.merlinmotorsport.co.uk it is straight through and is 250mm long, sounds sweet, std on tickover with a deep sound when the revs pick up and then i nice wistle when the turbo kicks in

Nice. Everything looks a bit foreign under there as I'm used to the old F70. Where did you end the pipe, from the pics it looks like before the rear axle?

well i thought it was time to lose some of the over hang on the rear so ive started to strip the tow bar and bumper and fit new rear lights, just need to fit the fog/reverse lights tomorrow ready for monday then i can cut the metal for the rear bumper/tank guard just need to think about what type of recovery point i want on the rear plus now i will need to mount the spare wheel on the inside of the door

Hey Parrot.

The truck looks mint with the larger part of the wheels showing from the back, I take it your going to fit a small bumper high up to keep the approach angle good? I think the 2 "land rover" lamps look good on the back, whats the third lense your holding up going to be, fog or brake? If its fog I think it looks odd next to the other ones, maybe there is a space for it on the bumper? I think the fog has to be at least 6 inches anyway from the brake lamp too.....
Are the polly bushes really that bad, I know they are ment to stiffen the ride, but I though with coils/torsion it would hardly be noticeable... Are you going to keep them? I spose you'll have to, can't really waste the money chucking them away Sad
Do you just want a recovery point, or do you need a ball for towing as well?

The wheels are doing fine thanks Smile I went up to Tamworth 2 weeks ago, which was a 300 mile round trip, no problems! I've been putting the 2 stroke in since you posted about it ages ago, I can't say I've noticed any change either way. I don't drive it everyday, so maybe thats why I haven't seen anything.
I've just bought some alloy chequer plate to do my kick-plates, the dorr lining is pretty much destroyed from when I ripped the speakers out Very Happy
My next job is to change the exhaust into a side pipe. I'm fed up of the current 3" getting crushed between the chassis and spring. Since I've got the running boards I don't know where I can get the exhaust to come out at the side...

Be sure to post the pics once you've finished the bumper!

Cheers, Ben.

the third light is the fog light and there is a reverse light on the other side as i dont want them in the bumper as they will only get broke every time i go off road, the bumper is flat on the back built into the tank guard as the fourtrak one was made of tinfoil,it will have 2 recovery points and then i will make up a drop hitch for if/when i need to tow

some progress pics of the bumper so far
