Hey all........
I am looking at a new vehicle.
4x4 inc low box, 30mpg+ , space for 4 and dog.
The big one £1500 ish maybe pushing to £2000.

A big ask, I know.

Thanks in advance

I think we are asuming you ment a diesel.

Is it for offroading that you need the low box, & are you towing?
30mpg on a disco shouldnt be a problem.
What vehicle meeting your criteria do you think will better it?

Have you tried 'Autotrader online'.

Always a good way to see what your money buys.
Remembering that a 'asking price' is only that.
their hopes & wishes.(starting point for a haggle)

Typed in your price range & 4x4 and see what comes up in your area, & then further afield.
good luck.

fourtrak is a little small. I currently have a Shogun SWB 3L LPG.
It is on the small side for what I want now but it does 200 miles for £30 and it's replacement would have to match this at the minimum.

Needs a low box as I do go laning a fair bit and pay'n'play sites.
My shogun is lifted 3" and runs 31" MT's and has a rear locker. I don't really expect what ever I replace it with to be as capable.

Any other suggestions??????

Tricky to get the size of anything bigger than a Shogun/Pajero SWB with the fuel economy of 30+mpg - maybe a Vitara LWB diesel? Unsure what price these are, though?

Pajero 2.5 diesel manual would tick all the boxes except it might be too small and not quite achieve 30mpg.

The problem is, if you want a 'proper' off roader that generally means a separate chassis, and that means heavy, and that means less fuel economy. And also less interior room.

15p per mile seems very optimistic for any 4x4. My jeep averages 23p per mile, thats a 2.5 diseasel.

Would agree with the above, if you're happy with the mitsi then just get the bigger version.

Well although my shogun has had a resonable amount of punishment it does seem to have been a pain the backside. I have never had a car have so many problems as this one which is another reason I am leaning towards a diesel.

The LPG system has developed many faults though the 20K i have owned it for and as a result I have now replaced most of the front end of the system.
The plugs and leads have also been replaced.
3 services to keep it happy.
New stud axle, bearings, CV, half shalf and stud axle carrier.
All of which add up as the LPG work has to be done in garage Evil or Very Mad

I think I may just have to give up the 4x4 and get a decent car. Can find some nice motors as soon as you take away the 4x4 bits.
