I used to always identify them by Jap had horn on a stalk and Spanish had horn in the middle of the steering wheel.

there are several differences;

jap indicators on right and spanish on left,
jap horn on wheel spanish on stalk,
jap chassis number starts JSA and spanish VSE,
jap fusebox in driver footwell spanish in passenger,
jap has two reverse lights and seperate fog spanish only have one reverse,
jap dont have a low fuel warning light spanish do..

I'm sure there are more but these all I can think of at the moment!
joel.

But they still DO rust! Laughing Just spent most of this week welding on my jap 413 and I'm not even half way to finishing! Evil or Very Mad The edges of the rear wheelarches were made of thin air and the rear corners bashed almost out of all recognition.

Jap 410's have Asin brakes
Chrome mirrors
twin reverse lights with underbumper fog light
4 speed gearbox
and and a few other differences such as switchgear and gauges - sometimes dash.
rear bench seat
Early stuff had drum brakes and skinny props.

Spanish 410's have "Suzuki Santana" cast into the rocker cover
use Girling brakes
plastic mirrors
5 speed gearbox
often says "santana on the car somewhere.
Split rear seats

This is from memory - correct me if I am wrong please.
