In my hand book, it shows a nice fitted pump and tells all how to do it. Can the cab be raised just by undoing the bolts and two people pushing upward? Years ago I owned a Ford Cargo 24 tonner and a couple of Leylands. The Leyland cabs had to be pumped up and down. My Ford though was a simple matter. You pulled a locking pin whilst holding down a safety lock handle then just pushed upward, any normally muscled man could have done it. So is the unimog (square ) cab a similar proposition, or do I have to go and buy the pump and fit it?

Mogs either have the kit fitted to them or have a removeable kit.If you look under the N/s cab and on the step you will see the 2 mounts that the ram attaches too.It is a heavy old cab and there is nothing to stop it tipping over forward and smashing itself to pieces on the ground.Only the ram and retaining bar stop this happening so go careful! The original kits can be eye wateringly expensive, if and when they turn up for sale. They can be tilted using a hoist through the rear loop on the back of the cab, but check the structural integrity of the cab first!
Here is a set(with other tools)

Do you ever come across one of these kits for a U900 406?

Not personally, all I can suggest is to invest some time setting up searches and alerts on Fleabay, especially fleabay Germany. Not many German traders will ship to the UK,but some do and bargains are to be had.I believe the 406 system is different, and not all are fitted with the basic front tilting brackets, whereas the SBU( square cab Mogs) usually are.
Good luck

Phew!!!!nearly £2,000 euro,s....I,m in the lucky position of soon to be owning a barn. I think I,ll wait, and if I need to do anything with the cab up, I,ll rig up a nice little pulley set up off the rafters and lift it that way.

Not sure about the newer ones but on moglet I undid the 2 rear cab mounts and undid the steering column from the box and then lifted it up using an axle stand and a ratchet strap with the levers disappearing through the floor, only real thing I had trouble with was the clearance the engine oil filter housing had to the geabox opening.
