please can anybody tell me what the silver round thing is on the hitch ? i think it something to do with reversing the trailer . Thanks Darren

Hi Darren,

My knowledge of Sankey trailers is pretty limited but I'm inclined to agree with Jas on this one.

I'd say you don't have auto-reverse brakes on your trailer (so it's built prior to '89). Would this be correct? If so, you'll probably need to push that lever down to lock the drawbar. This will stop the drawbar from moving backwards, when you reverse, in turn pushing on that lever that activates the brakes.

The guy to talk to is Jonkem. I'm sure he wouldn't mind you dropping him a pm and I doubt there's anything he doesn't know about Sankey trailers and their brakes. He'll be able to advise you on how he fitted his break-away cable too (something that you'll require, by law, on your trailer if you're towing on the road, but the MoD didn't fit to their trailers).
