hi my brother has a Range Rover with a Daihtsu engine in it. We are struggling to get parts for it as all the motor factors want an engine code, vehicle make and model etc. Could any one tell me from the picture what it is and out of. The top hat is is normaly facing straight down to the turbo. Any help will be greatly appreciated thanks adam.

Is there a sticker on the side of the tappet cover, usually RHS, with DL?? on it. This is the engine model number. It will probably be a DL52, or maybe DL62. 2850cc. Most parts across the DL range are pretty much interchangable. The later turboed motors had stronger internals. About the only MAJOR change was the way the camshaft and fuel pump are driven. If your front cover is alloy, it is gear drive, if it is plastic, it is belt drive. And model designation is virtually any F7xxx, so F70, 75, 73, or 77. Dont get anything for F8xxx, eg F80, 85, as these are the 2 litre 3Y Toyota petrol motors.

Ditto the above, definitely DL-50, exactly the same as the one I put in my F20. I bought everything I needed for mine mail order from Milners (see advert on this site I think or google them). Very knowledgeable about the Daihatsu stuff so shouldn't trouble you for trivia like chassis numbers etc !!!

Good luck - Al.
