Kwik fit!
Ha

Check them for play yourself, pull up and down on the bar next to the as hard s you can - see how muc play there is...

a teeny tiny amount of play is acceptble - any more and the joint is shot.

HI,
he might be right that they need replaced.
We just suggested that you dont buy the replacements untill you check them.
If you dont know what they should look/feel like, have someone that does know, check them.
Considering how your rear wheel bearing was, they may well need replacing.
Dont take risks with steering & brakes.
cheers.

Hi Tups93,

Kwick Fit are OK for tyres and there is nothing wrong with going to them but they always try it on for other stuff. Mostly it is shock absorbers (dampers) but now they do brakes, exhausts (cheap and nasty quality so avoid) and steering components. As said they try it on: I once took a Citroen there and the "fitter" told me that it needed new shock absorbers (this was one of the Citroens that have the Citroen hydro/pneumatic suspension system so no shockers) so I asked him for the part numbers and surprise, surprise he could not find them.

Having said all that steering is a critical matter so if you have any doubts do the best thing and take it to a reputable garage or someone who really knows about it for advice - I would.

A very simple question.

When did you last service the vehicle ?
Now the difficult bit.
Shew me your last service sheet ..... You are obliged to keep a record of servicing.

Mike, I can show you mine.
Little black book kept in Defender with mileage and what I found/did. I've always done that for all my vehicles.
