A friend of mine has a manual td5 disco and after he has been on a run the gear lever is very stiff in neutral, its fine when the box is cold. I was wondering if it would benefit from a change of oil? Any ideas?

I would recommend Evolution1 from Difflocks online shop, excellent oil & makes the box better to select gears & quieter also. (And would also suggest doing the diffs & transfer box too (Evolution2)
Richard will confirm if you give him a call I'm sure.

Hi This is a common problem i am affraid and the only cure is to remove the gear lever assembly and clean/wire wheel the 'ball' then re-assemble with new nylon bush. The steel ball gets dirty and the nylon bush swells when hot this results in a very stiff feel to the shift (when hot), when cold it's usually ok.
Hope this helps Ian Ashcroft
