I seem to remember reading somewhere that a guy had fitted YJ front springs to the rear of an XJ. Am I rite, is it possible and what are the benefits.

AH HA that was me!!!
on the yj they are naturally sprung under front an rear where as the cherokees are sprung over.
a friend of mine has a yj that he lifted 4 inch on rubicon express packs, about 6 months ago he decided to replace them cos they'd sagged an dropped on the drivers side.
so i stole them befor he had chance to weigh them in
i cut the eyes off each end of the yj pack top leaf because i needed the lengh to support the cherokee top leaf ill be adding,
also removed two of the middle.ish leafs to give a bit of movement in the pack as its originally rated for the heavy front end!!!
i removed the top leaf from a 3.5 inch cherokee pack an slapped it on the top of the yj pack, clamped them together an stuck them on the axle.
the shackles im running at the moment are from bolt centre to bolt centre 6 1/2 inch. theyre this lengh cos with the big curve in the springs would be bringing the shackle in over if any shorter.
just been out an had a look an if wanted a could actually shorten them a bit now cos the springs have settled.
all this orginally gave me about a 10 inch lift thats now dropped to about 8 1/2 but its been with quite a bit off roading and alot of heavy towing!!!
an now its the same height as the front!
and this is it now!!!

Fookinell! That's nasty! I assume you're running a SYE with that? Have you had driveline vibes at all?

that i do,
i started with a 4 1/2 inch lift that had a 3/4 inch transfer drop an slightly longer shackles an it was absolutely spot on an i never had a single vibe!!!
now its about a 8inch lift an it shakes a bit!!!
i started it with a 2inch transfer drop an had the rear pinion pointed at the back of the box an considering i was running it past its limmit, it was pretty good an did'nt vibe till about 65 but wasn't really noticable till 70ish.
then decided of an sye, made my own from copying a friends hack an tap set up which is great if do say so myself!
the bad thing about it is i made my own prop instead of buying one! whitch is why it vibes.
i used the slip yoke from a front prop so i had the joint and the right sized uj for the pinion and sleved it to a double cardan from some sort of toyota i found lying in a scrappy.
i had it ballanced an it worked great till bout 50 then the vibes set in an get worse untill about 75 then get less the closer to 95 you get
an now it vibes pretty much all the time so im guessing its chucked the weights. still works tho!
its coming off the road now for a few months so im going to get a properly made shaft to suit!!!
so hopefully no nore vibes. altho im not expecting much better cos of the lift ive got!
oh an the main problem ive got is it keeps wearing out the slip yoke on the front prop as i cant point the front pinion at the box without changing the camber an making it handle like crap.
