Northants County Council for the last three years have placed temporary restrictions on a great deal of their byways over each winter "to reduce damage to the lengths of byway".
They are now moving forward to make these 'temporary' seasonal restrictions into permanent seasonal restrictions.

Comments on these proposals are invited by the council. The text of the order is as below:

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Northamptonshire County Council intend to make an Order under Sections 1(1) and 2(1)-(2) and under Schedule 9 to the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984. The general effect of the Order will be to prohibit the driving of any horse drawn vehicle or motor vehicle (except motor cycles) from 1st November to 31st December inclusive and from 1st January to 30th April inclusive each year along those lengths of byways and roads as specified in the schedule below.

REASON FOR RESTRICTION This order is required to reduce damage to the said lengths of byways and roads during the winter months.

A COPY of the Order, together with a plan showing the length of road to which it relates may be inspected at Daventry Library, North Street, Daventry or Brixworth Library, Spratton Road, Brixworth during their normal opening hours or at the offices of Legal & Democratic Services, County Hall, Northampton during the hours of 10 am to 12 noon and 2 pm to 4 pm on Monday to Friday inclusive.

OBJECTIONS to the proposed Order, stating the grounds on which they are made should be sent in writing to
Traffic Orders Section,
Legal & Democratic Services,
County Hall,
Northampton
NN1 1AW

Objections need to be in by 10th September 2009.
