Congratulations on the Purchase of your first Land Lover.
I see it has provided you with a valuble insight into what the rest of your time spent together will be like!
As with buying ANYTHING - Especially off eBay its is most definately Buyer Beware!
Did you not go and look at the potential purchase first?
Would you like this to be moved to the Rants section of Difflock?
Your clutch sounds like it could be a hydraulic problem - Check the fluid level, if its empty then you have a leak, this is a simple fix. if its not out then possibly the release bearing has collapsed, the fingers worn through or the release arm has broken/worn through - Box out job.
As for the engine blowing oil from every joint then it sounds worn out, the bores and rings will have mahoosive wear on them and it will have lots of back pressure.... Causing the oil to spew from any joints.
Bad luck - I feel symphathy for you!
At least you have a solid chassis - Everything else is easily fixed.

Don't have any valuable input for you except sorry to hear about this.
Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but Landies are difficult enough to buy when you have an expert looking them over, never mind buying it 'unseen'.

Sorry to here bout your prob mate. at least your on here and will always be able to gain sound advice.
I bought an old skool beemer which turned out to be a right dud, rot, parts goin, dodgy mot but everything is doable if you love your motor enough.
May take time but sounds like you have a solid Landy to start from. Good luck to ya fella!
Welcome by the way.

If the clutch reservoir was dry the chances are that the master or slave cylinder has failed. If it is the slave fluid will leak out of the bell housing. A leak from the master doesn't always show but fluid can leak down the clutch pedal.

Not sure why, but last time I drained my clutch it took ages to bleed it. In the end it coughed and chucked out a big load of black, then pleed normally. God knows what the problem was but every seems ok now. Have changed the hoses since and not had a problem.
The rocker cover gasket is simple enough to replace. Not sure of any quick cures to the dipstick though.
If all else fails a replacement engine second hand is not too expensive, and there are only about three wires onto the 19j so it's a pretty easy swap, and while it's out you can sort the clutch

It sounds like it needs an engine rebuild or another engine...
Things I would try is to remove the rocker cover and breather pipes and check everything is clear and not blocked.
I would also change the oil and use some 20W50 diesel oil and dump in a tin of something like Wynns engine additive
or give this stuff a try?
