|

A number of Green Lanes in the Yorkshire Dales have been under threat from closure for years, and using the NERC act, many were closed contrary to what was recommended by the relevant consultation group.
However, LARA took the National Park to High Court, and managed to quash the decision on 4 lanes, partly because they chose to ignore the advice of their own Advisory Group and applied full blanket TRO's.
The LARA press release can be seen here: http://www.laragb.org/press-rel/YDNPA-TROs-quashed.pdf

That is excellent news, well done whoever it was at LARA for that. Being a High Court case it sets a precedent for other cases as well.

Very good news indeed! I'm heading up there myself this weekend and look forward to the extra choice of routes.

Just stick to Gorbeck Road, you won't get a 4x4 down Arncliffe Cote or Stockdale lane and Harber seems to be very dubious legally on the latest info.
Be prepared for lots of Bobblies with cameras recording the lack of "Voluntary Restraint" requested by LDNP on using these roads.

Look Mr Petyt up on the LDNP Access Forum bit in the members..........has been a Rambler member man and boy as are about 6 or 7 of the Committee. I know him quite well but he is probably the only reasonable Rambler on there if that's possible. Unitl we get a fair representation on the membership we will eventiually lose the war in YDNP but we must keep going.
