I was going to ask the same question. Bought 1L of DOT4 and when I looked at the reservoir it said use DOT3 only. This is on a Suzuki SJ413. The motot factors only stock DOT4, so would I be safe in assuming that DOT3 is OK?

I am going to completely purge the brake system. I just don't want to turn all the new rubber seals into sticky goo!

DOT5 is no good it will disintegrate your seals rather quickly, its for new generation cars, DOT4 will do the job.

heres one.. Laughing

im too tight to buy a new clutch master cylinder, mine was leaking back up inside the resivour if you didnt stamp on the pedal so it just b=needed a new seal, £4 on ebay and the new kit arrived. anyway rebuilt the cylinder in 20min, all back togeather.

ran out of dot 4 topping back up and all i had was atf dextron II so thought what the heck and poured it in, system bled and works great.

will i have any problems with this in the future? Shocked

DOT 3, Dot 4 and DOT 5.1 can be mixed, though obviously you're better off using it neat.

DOT 5 must not be mixed with anything else and shouldn't be used in systems not originally specced with it.
