My car still has issue when revving that the engine just drops back to idle. As I now have an every day car been trying to think of causes to the problem. one thing we are going to check is the valve adjustments to make sure a valve isn't staying open and dropping the compression.

Another item we are going to look at is the turbo waste gate. The turbo came off old engine and also waste gate actuator was undone to free up. we think the issue might be the pressure in the actuator system, how can we pressurise the system cant find a guide anywhere.

Sounds like a lack of fuel/intake restriction to me.

Have you changed the fuel filter?

Does it have enough fuel in it?

Is the lift pump ok?

Are the turbo hoses falling apart inside and blocking the airway?

Nathaniel :
We have been down the fuel checks, we have replaced the filter, lift pump and bled the fuel to the injectors its coming out plenty so doubt its the flow.

Problem occurs with a full tank of fuel also.

Turbo hoses look in good condition, had all off and checked over.

blanche_90 :
Not sure about a hole in the actuator pipe, will have to get a look at it.

Will also try and get a video up so you can see what its like.

try running it with the fuel cap off as there may be a vacuum being created in the tank resulting in fuel starvation. If this works just drill a 3mm hole at the top of the filler pipe

gaz

or how about a new fuel cap, or try cleaning the breather in it!
won't suck water in your fuel then, when it's raining heavy or when your wading,

if that's what the problem is!

Unless it is an internal issue with the injection pump then The only suggestions I have is either fuel restriction or intake restriction.

I can't see the turbo causing the revs to die off.

Does it do it when you rev the engine or do you have to be driving it to make it die?

The fault happens both when revving and when driving.

If i'm driving then the hotter the car gets the worse the problem, to the point i can't use any revs before it cuts off.

video is uploaded to youtube shows the problem happening

Gotta be fuel related.

Try a direct live to the stop solenoid on the pump, to rule out electrical.

I would get a can of clean diesel and pipe it directly into the fuel pump and see what that does.

if none of that cures it its gotta be the injection pump.

the only time ive seen an engine do that is very large diesels with dirty fuel filters. they start hunting even at idle because they just dont have sufficent fuel to keep it going. i sorted it with just a change or racor filters. i see you have already done that. did you clean the sedimenter out as well under the chassis. it has to be lack of fuel somewhere. if none of the above things already mentioned help then i would suggest you wip you injector pump off and get it into a diesel specialist who will be able to test it. you cant tell just by looking at the fuel coming out when you bleeding if the right quantity or timing of fuel is correct. does it smoke at all at idle and when it is hunting?

Update:

Hopefully after a bit of work tonight this fault should be sorted. removed the spring and plunger from the stop solenoid and the fault was gone.

the lines are all the right way i think, the stop solenoid was cutting in at high revs dropping the engine down. this was tested putting a fuel line onto the injector pump and the fault still existed. so without the solenoids middle it revved fine.
