Remove rear seats.

Fit full length wooden floor that has a bit on hinges that folds down to fill the gap left when you have slid both front seats right forwards.

Should give you enough room.

I saw a cunning arrangement that used two aluminium poles and a canvas that looked like a stretcher and rolled away nice and tidy, single beds though!

I fitted a sleeping platform and self supporting awning to mine when I went to Iceland.

Will post pics for you later. Also had cooker set in old PC case bolted to back door...

remover rear seats then make a sleepingbox big enough for the both of you plus any extra room you may need, then you have a section always there and you dont have to remove everything to sleep, unless your not on a expo, as mentioned abouve a wooden platform will doo just right

Interesting thread & ideas, the photos especially helped of the white Disco.

I have been planning this too for the Disco I get but didn't think that the platform like that would have done the job for me. When I finish I'll get some piccies too but, anyway, thanks for putting them up Wink

That's OK. It's always good to share ideas..

I still have the sleeping platform if anyone would like it. I made it to fit a 5 door Discovery Series 1. All you would need to do to use it again is make is a couple of vertical supports but the rest is all there. It is made from 20mm MDF and is basically 3 panels that sit on the window sills. The middle panel is fixed, the rear panel is loose so you can lift it out of the way to access the boot and the front panel is hinged so you can fold it out of the way when you need to return the front seats to driving positions.

I don't want any money for it. I am based in South Devon and you are welcome to collect it if you want to. It has been in my store for the last 2 years and eventually I will chop it up and burn it in the wood burner if no-one takes it away.

Cheers

You know on the passenger seats in the back that split 2/1 and the 1 is on the passenger side? Well, I was planning to have the '2' down, or even removed temporarily which would give me enough space there to lie down in. Behind the 1 I'd have a storage area in the boot off the off-road gear, all secured down. Pretty low down for me and good enough.

Then again, I'm on my own anyway so it's just me I need to cater for. I've done it roughly in the back of teh RRC when I had it but didn't remove the seats and it was shorter than I would have wanted.

But it's not going to happen for some years yet as I need to save my money, pay some debts off then save up for a motor Wink

In time. One Day... Wink

Just found this one

here is a link to the kitting out of my Disco which is now in regular use as a camper. Just need to fit a drop down table on the rear door and some sort of awning and its all good.
