Forest drive is on, who is going along?

See BORDC Members only section for directions etc.

Same meeting place as last year for the 09 forest drive, Sunday 7th June.

Please be ready to leave for 9:30, so try to arrive for 9 ish, road legal vehicles only, all passengers MUST be carried in forward facing seats, no under 2's, price to be confirmed.

I'll post coordinates for start place after the weekend (in members section). NOTE Its not the same place as we go for the RTV. A BBQ lunch of burgers will be provided but bring snacks if you want more..and try to get into the burger queue before Mike Maclurg Laughing

Phil

Also need 1st aid kit and fire extinguisher

Hi

If you have access to the members only section, I have posted the grid refs there but all will be revealed nearer the time, Phil is co-ordinating things as I am not able due to an op last week.

Also, have a look at www.bordc.net where there is some info advising a newsletter will be sent out to all club members before the event.

Do we need to bring anything for the BBQ?

See above , but wait for the newsletter. You can take additional food if you want, the time will be limited for the scouts cooking for everyone. Also read the small print at the bottom of Phil's (Gazguzzler) as copied below.

I'll post coordinates for start place after the weekend (in members section). NOTE Its not the same place as we go for the RTV. A BBQ lunch of burgers will be provided but bring snacks if you want more.

If you dont have access to the BORDC Members Only area contact Tracey (Moderator)stating your 2009 membership number and she will put you on the list to get access.

If not wait for BORDC newsletter.

Price is TBC but budget around £20 per vehicle and £5 for passengers...this will include a burger and drink at lunchtime, as I say exact price still to be confirmed.

The drive with be suitable for all 4x4's, there will be rough sections for the more "intent" driver, but these can be bypassed on main tracks. I took my L322 RR around last year without damage. The harder tracks will be by choice.

Would non-members be welcome as well? Myself and a friend (members of Tay4x4) would be interested in coming as well if we are allowed to. Seeing as it is in our own back yard!

You would need to join the club to cover the insurance side of things nowadays.

However its only £20 per person per year and you can join on the day if you wish.

For those of us that aren't members yet how much is it to join the club for the rest of the year?

Oh anyone got a spare seat in a defender as a lad at work is desperate for a shot in a defender as he is considering one as his first car.

And a further question.

Any limit on numbers as i know a few folk with 4x4s that may want to come along

Without trying to put people off, we cannot handle large numbers (or in fact want large numbers along at this event). We would prefer to keep around 20 vehicles if possible, so although we appreciate where you are coming from, please don’t invite people along only simply for one day out out of a years events list. Genuine people that are interested in the club are more than welcome.

Dont anyone take this the wrong way, however we are not doing a promotional event for the club, it is a Forest Drive for the benefit of club members.

Rgds

Please remember to advise Phil by Email if you intend coming.

The details are in the Email I sent out to all registered Members. If you think you should have got the Email and didn't then advise Phil and we'll investigate.

Stew,

I've just read the permit - please be aware that as well as forward facing seats - ALL Vehicles must carry a basic first aid kit and a (small) fire extinguisher.

These will be checked during morning checks before we set off.

I have a first aid kit but not a fire extinguisher.

As I am in Norway this week I will need to order one online. Does anyone have any suggestions of where to get one and what kind to get?

Cheers

Mitchells hardware store right here in Banchory!

A 1Kg minimum, preferably 2kg for commercial vehicles.

Or online try Paddocks, Craddocks, R.S.Components etc or some of the racing supplies companies (Demon Tweeks etc)

I have a spare one if you're stuck.

See you all on Sunday morning, anyone that is a bit unsure of the way, I'll be leaving from Asda Portlethan at 8:40 and there is a few folk joining me, I'll be in a M reg Red Landcruiser.

Remember you'll need a fire extinguisher and first aid kit, costs are £15 for driver additional £5 per passenger - correct change is appreciated.

Rules state no under 2's and passengers must be at least 12yrs old or 135cm to sit in side facing rear seats.

BBQ and drinks at lunch will be on the club (to celebrate to the clubs 25 year anniversary), but take a few snacks / drinks for rest of day.

There will be off road sections (optional) and plenty of stops / photo stops during the day. Anyone not sure if their vehicle is suitable for a particular off road section just ask your group leader (as some are tougher than others), but there is always a track around . The day will be very relaxed affair.

Look forward to seeing you all there, still places available, but we have 20 trucks and about 40 people attending so far, so we are getting close to budgeted numbers.

Lets hope you rain on Saturday night, and sunny weather on Sunday! Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

Well we did the forest drive today, cracking scenery & big big site. I'm sure someone will post some photos, I'm not too good with them. A big thanks to all who recce'd and organised the routes and the signing on, also to Fred & the scouts for the barbecue, first class. Also thanks to the Forestry Commission who without their permission we wouldn't have had the event in the first place.

Had a great day out. We had a lot of fun driving the different trails, nothing too difficult, which gave us a lot of driving time. Can the club organise some more similar events? Anyway a big thank you to everyone who helped on the day, it's certainly made me more determined to make time to get to club events.
Very Happy
