Hi

Just had a look under the old girl today and there is a little bit of play in the front output shaft where it joins the prop, there is between .5 and 1mm of play or there abouts, but its enough to let the oil leak out, anyone else had this problem? I think there might be some play in the carrier bearing but i am not sure, this might be nothing but i am about to leave on monday (fingers crossed) to do our trip across russia and the middle east, around 25,000 miles, should i be worried about this or is it just a typical landy leak???

i have a 200 tdi defender.

i don't know how long it may last, that's like asking how long is a piece of string, but any leak is not normal, be it a landy or anything else.
you haven't over filled the transfer box in some way have you? ( unlikly i know )
may just get away with just putting in a new seal as long as the surface of the output shaft is ok.

You got any whining on deceleration? As i had some, then tonight just before i sold the 90 it went bang and is a hell of alot worse. Im hoping its just a bearing, but there is play in the output shaft.
