I have an sj413 with has the orignal 1.3 lumo in it that i want to convert to run on red calor gas bottles (it is off the road), I have an SU carb and I was wondering if this lpg "kit" could be used to convert the SJ.

Is it worth it or is there another low cost option?

SU carbs come in different sizes, you'd need the right mixer plate size. I think the usual SJ conversion is HIF38 (1.5") whereas the Rover units are HS6 or HIF6 (1.75")
Secondhand regulator/vaporiser/reducer units are rarely worth bothering with; they do have a finite life as they have rubberised diaphragms and seals, sometimes even the castings pinhole with age.
Sample discussion on use of red bottles -

There are drawbacks and safety considerations (outside of any road-fuel duty issues that don't apply here)
cheers, Ross K
