just about to fork out on a set of 34/10.50r15 Simex JT2s
For the spare tyre, I'd rather try and get a cheaper tyre.
what other alternatives are there? doesnt have to be so aggressive as the JT, as its only a spare and fingers crossed wont get used much

You might want to check that your JT2's are radial's as the vast majority of JT2's are crossply casings which means you will need to buy a 5th tyre because in the event of a puncture or a tyre being damaged if your spare was of radial construction you cannot run a crossply and radial tyre on the same axle(legally).
