Has anyone got a newbies guide to altering gear ratios on an Ax10 ? I want to lower mine a couple of cogs but the instruction manual seems uber complex!

if you mean lowering the ratios using the supplied gear in the kit and fitting the supplied locker.....then the manual makes a real dogs breakfast of a really simple change.

I think that's where my confusion is martin, I've been pouring over the manual and that sort of tilt table affair ?
I see now that it's all to do with getting a different pinion gear ? ( I think ) So in essence I just buy and fit a new pinion to reduce gearing.
I don't want to reduce it too far... I'm running on the stock gear that came with the artr kit.

yes, the table is confusing.
In the RTR kit you get an 87T Bevel and both a 14T pinion and a 20T pinion.
Therefore only those parts of that table actually apply.
For 87T + 14T you get 47.8
For 87T + 20T you get 33.46
To change between the two you simply undo the grub screw and slide the gear off of the shaft and slide the other on. You then loosen the motor mounts and move the motor so the gears mesh correctly.

When I got my box of tricks from modelsport uk the bloke wasn't sure if there was a pinion gear included so he sold me a metal one which I stuck in my spares box and have left. I was worried that a metal pinion gear would rip the teeth off the bevel. It has a sticker on it which I'll read the code off and see if there's any difference in ratios.
I'd like to give mine a slower climbing speed, they need to make a sort of servo driven transfer box for an ultra low range option
