|
|
What's the length from the front bumper to the back of the rear wheel on a 404?
Minimum trailer length needed to carry one is what I'm thinking.
Thanks guys.

On another quick question, how do people attach mogs to the trailer, I've a feeling the little wheel straps wont go over a mog wheel
And to the axle or to the chassis?

Bigger straps is the answer.
These seem very specific questions, have you found yourself a 'Mog?

you will need the trailer to be atleast 7ft wide (dave mogs uses a ifor wiliams 7 x16 and it fits on nicely)
and he straps in a "x" across the axels but you have to watch for crushing the brake lines

I've been let down too many times on buying and selling trucks and cars to say for sure, but I'm (touch wood) going to be having a look at a running and drivable 404 which is in budget.
At the moment everything sounds good, just need to get all the planning out of the way. Last thing I want is to turn up, it be about what I'm after, and then something silly to throw it's head up.

7' wide - that's turning in to a pita, I can't find anywhere local which rents a trailer over 6' Length isn't a problem, just width.

Keep trying! We found a few, but often from smaller places.
We tied the axles down (brake lines!) and then did additional tie downs to the chassis, pulling down - but also forwards and backwards. We had no bed or superstructure, anything higher, and more chassis ties would be needed.
It's not here, but I'm sure they're not quite 7 foot at the wheels.

75 inches from outside of wheels to outside of wheels I've just been told.
that's 6 1/4 feet, with the width of the tyres, cough, that would fit on a 6' trailer

hiya all, my trailer is 16 foot bed x 80 inches wide, ifor williams, 3.5 ton gross jobby. carries my 404 with just enough space left to put the sides on, but by golly its piggin high getting out when its on, and you only have around 2 inches play either side, hope this helps.
my mog is 16 feet from front of winch to the back,
