Hi all,

I am looking at getting a set of tyres from my 404, mine are badly perished and lacking tread. I need a mud a pattern (obviously) Conti. mpt etc or poss even agri pattern on std. rims

Now I know good second hand mog tyres are like hens teeth, so I'm looking to buy new as I plan to keep the mog for some time. I've contacted a few local tyre companies, but they seem more intrested in selling normal size car tyres!
Can anyone reccomend any good/ helpfull suppliers?? preferably in the south (uk)

cheers Mike

After much looking around, we got Conti MPT80's - in 10.5, not 12.5 from Watts Industrial Tyres on Trafford Park manchester (but they are national)

We couldn't find a high speed ag tyre (although I think alliance might do one). You've got to be careful about ply, we got 10 ply (most 404 mil tyres are 7 or 8 ply), we had experience of 14 ply, and frankly you couldn't tell if they were inflated or not!

I found the 10 ply really hard to get, and ended up "speaking to germany" about it. They recommended watts who worked out very well, efficient, reasonable and happy to deal with joe public with a switch card.

Thats given me a few ideas- cheers.

Normal Bloke, thanks for the offer, but I think 12.50's are too big for my 404 and will over gear it, in fact I too have a couple of Conti mpt 12.50/ 20 worn but free to a good home.

If we can get up to 4 12.50's on a freebie then I'm happy to be a 'good home'. I don't even have a spare 10.50 atm and the four that are on are a bit slick to the point where my Landy leaves it behind with ease around the farm:(

You're welcome to it but I suspect it's a logistical nightmare for you.

You're probably right, bit of big parcel lol.

I can get JCB fronts from a guy in the trade but not sure if they would be any good off the farm. That said it's a long way from being ready to use for a trip down the shops anyway.

I have a feeling they're 55mph ones (90 kph?), which I have no issue with. I'm not sure there was a K at the time we looked (or I would have bought them).

Maybe they're a "J"

I need some but can't afford any at the moment, the Mog is very much on hold behind other projects. Are you after them for a Mog or a 101?

I'm sure some of the above lads would pallet up their tyres up if you ask nicely.

Tom,

BIG plans....shorten the bed to make room for a tool rack, 3" lift, found a set of good year tyres, 12.00x20, skinny and 42" tall, ...will sort out the issues with the LPG conversion, already found my electrical problem that made it cut out at Bordon Commons, so will sort out the wiring probs there.........and possibly extend the cab into a 4 door model, bull bars, roll cage, 2nd winch.....so yes, lots of plans! Will be back in May and ready to play.

cheers,
Dan

If it's the 12.00-20 Goodyears i'm thinking of before you go to far they will require different rims due to their bead design. Not unless you intend to gas the centres out and replace them with Mog centres.

They are for a 101. I put Mog 404 rims on about 5 years when 10.50s were easier to get than the standard 101 900s. Now its gone the other way round!!
Saw two Mogs in the area today - a 401 or 411 with snowblower in Westgate (belongs to ski club I think) and a 404 in Middleton. Never seen either before!

I have to take a run up to Westgate soon to do some 'recovery work' with my Landy and it's winch.

You wouldn't happen to have any spare Mog rims would you?

Only 101 I've seen up here was 'Earl' as it was known.

Has anyone had any experience of these super swampers on a 404 mog?
How does the 39.5x135x20's (American sizes i guess) compare in size to the std 10.5x20's ??

well they are 39" tall by 13 1/2" wide and to fit 20" rims
as are they are suitible for the mog it all depends if your working it (if so they will not be load rated to what the mog will carry) also a lot of the "offroad tyres " are designed to be spun up to clear the mud off them and because the mog is low geared carnt spin them up quickly to flick the mud out but would work good on hard stuff and rocks

For info, I've found a good supplier for tyres, http://unitytyre.com/
I got some Mitas MPT 04's for £134. ea. speed rated to 65kph and 10ply. I thought that was good value.

Thats a reasonable price Mike, well done.I now search the bay for tyres everytime I go on it.I have got to the point now that I am preparded to hold stock of them as they are never available when you need them.I posted that I bought 2 new 405/70/20 earlier. In fact when I went to collect the guy offered me another 2,so have a brand new set of 4 for £450.Happy with that!

Old thread being resurected....

I'm shortly going to be swapping tyres around which means I've got 2 reasonable condition (cracked to MOT faliure, but fine for agri use) 10.5r20 bar treads which are free to a home (good or bad Wink )

There's plenty of tread on them, but for road tyres I'm upping to 12.00r20's and keeping some non speed rated tractor 10.5r20's for plugging.

No rims, tyres only. Either from the Peterborough or North Derbyshire area.

i know this might be alittle too obvious but try a call to ac price in ingleton and atkinson vos in bentham. both have piles of tyres and if anybody is after any spares a couple of quid would be worth it to both. I know AC price has loads of part worn tyres and atkinson vos have always been help full?

It also saves the re-cycling fee for the massive tyres?
